After working at a computer for over a decade, my poor ergonomics caught up with me. My left hand started to feel like it was on fire whether I was typing or not.
I complained to my manager and they got me an ergonomic assessment. Finally, after about a decade, someone told me how to type without injuring myself:
- Dangle Your Fingers Over Your Keyboard
That’s it! Don’t wrest your wrists on anything, just let your hands float gently over your keyboard and type. It makes a huge difference.
I think this change was the single most effective “treatment” that prevented my carpal tunnel from getting worse.
